PANCONKTM 2017 news
6th National conference of Psychiatrists’ Association of Nepal (PANCONKTM2017) with the Theme: “Mental health access to all” was organized at Hotel del’ Annapurna, Durbar Marg, Kathmandu, Nepal on 17-18 February 2017. Inauguration of PANCONKTM 2017 was conducted by the chief guest Honorable Health Minister of Nepal Mr. Gagan Thapa. In the inaugural ceremony PAN honored Prof SK Khandelwal the honorary membership for his tireless contribution in the field of mental health in Nepal. Late Dr. Bishnu Prasad Sharma (1925-1988 AD), the father of psychiatry in Nepal was honored “Lifetime Achievement Award” with video documentary released by the General Secretary Dr. Nirmal Lamichhane. The contributors for PAN office in Kathmandu were felicitated by the chief guest.
PANCONKTM 2017 was committed to enhance the scientific knowledge to deliver an enriching experience to the delegates. The Conference aimed to bring together National and International mental health professionals to interact on various issues of mental illness. More than 150 delegates, 20 international delegates from India, Australia, New Zealand, Maldives participated and 50 scientific presentations, 10 guest lectures, 2 key note speeches and 1 workshop on “Mental Health Policy” in association with WHO Nepal strengthened the event. The key note speech were delivered by Prof SK Khandelwal and Prof Indira Sharma from India. Prof Dr. T.S.Sathyanarayana Rao, Professor, Department of Psychiatry, JSS Medical College Hospital delivered scientific lecture on “Understanding Men and Women: Sex and relationship”. Organizing Chairman Prof VD Sharma, Prof SP Ojha, President PAN welcomed and Organizing Secretary Dr. Rabi Shakya presented the vote of thanks.
